Congratulations on your new role as Deputy lord mayor the Cork City Council.  That has put an extra layer to your already busy schedule, Id say. So could you tell about some of the things you've been busy with? Well thanks for having me back on your blog. yea I do have a very busy schedule at the moment, as Deputy Lord Mayor, to which I got elected in June of this year. I et invited to a lot more events than I used to. So previously I would have been involved with the cycling  campaign, the community garden here in Togher, Bishopstown tidy towns,  and these are groups are in my own area. Whereas now, I get a much broader reach. Now I'm going to things like the Men's Shed and speaking to groups that I wouldn't have encountered previously. To begin, what do you prefer to drink...tea or coffee? Coffee. Always! Why is that your choice and what does it remind you of? The smell of coffee makes me genuinely happy and reminds me of good books and great conversations. Online coffees with friends during the Covid lockdowns were a source of much joy. It’s tricky to sum this up in a sentence but politics has engaged me since childhood, no doubt due to growing up in Ireland at a time when it was all anyone talked about!   Dereliction on Albert Road C. Thanks Honore for coming back to give an update on your activities.  Have things been working out for you? H. Things have been going well. I've been out and about canvassing among the different places…Boreenmana Road, Ballintemple, Ballinlough Road, for example. Currently I'm covering Victoria Road and then onto Blackrock Road. My team and I are really looking forward to covering the wide area, stretching over to Rochestown and Passagewest. I really welcome the opportunity. I want to thank my campaign team for all the hard work. I plan to call to all the houses at least twice before the elections, so I can get to know the concerns of people. That will be thousands of houses. So far I’ve covered hundreds, day after day, week after week. If God gives me strength, I hope to reach my goal of all the houses in the Cork Southeast area.  That means covering about 40,000 residents. People have been very positive to me at the door.   TOGHER COMMUNITY GARDEN   Beautifully nestled in one corner of Clashduv Park, Cork city, the Togher Community Garden has begun a feast of food, fun and adventure for anyone who wants to join in. Growing vegetable, flower, fruit and nut, the sun and rain beams its generosity on this community garden since 2021.    Run by Maria Young, coordinator with Cork Food Council and volunteers, whose enthusiasm and positivity beams warmly on anyone who drops by for a visit. And more volunteers are welcome too! The day I visited, I was welcomed in with a flourish and before long chats about the earth's needs and water resources and the fun and adventure of it all were indulged. Such a warm friendly communtiy!                                       Supported by the Cork Food Policy Counci, Maria and her volunteers have achieved much with the establishment of raised beds, a greenhouse, compost, store shed, water tanks, not to speak of upcoming rainwater storage and a rain garden.
